back to it (weekly report)

So I took a little break from my weekly posts—not really intentionally, just a lot of stuff going on! I went to a bachelor/bachelorette party, I celebrated Easter with the family, we got a new car… just lots of stuff going on ><

reading

My current book stack is as follows (newest to oldest)—

  • Beloved by Toni Morrison
  • Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-Reum
  • The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

On the side, I’ve been reading E.P. Tuazon’s Professional Lola and Stephen Hundley’s Bomb Island for review (I finished Professional Lola on Tuesday). I’m almost done with Beloved, and still kind of stuck on the other two on my list just because I’m reading the others on a deadline. ‘Enjoyment’ doesn’t feel like quite the right word when it comes to Beloved, because of the nature of the content, but I’m appreciating the experience a lot. It’s quite sad and a little hard to read at times, and the writing is quite beautiful.

eating

I’ve really been enjoying chai lattes lately, especially dirty chais ><

playing

I haven’t really been playing anything recently other than my usual mobile games. I did download a new game I saw on Instagram called “AFK Adventure” because the artwork was pretty, so I will need to try it out sometime.

obsessing

I started watching “Bakuman” on Hulu and I’m really enjoying it! It’s an anime about two kids who decide to become mangaka. I suppose it’s not quite an obsession yet, but I love a story about people working hard for their dreams. It’s also fun to see what the manga publishing process is like, I assume it’s portrayed somewhat accurately because “Bakuman” was a manga at some point lol

recommending

I’m the type to need some background noise on the TV while I work, or maybe I’m just conditioned to have the TV on in my room at all times. Either way, I just want to recommend, no suggest, that if you are like me, to just choose a random playlist on YouTube. Some of my faves are vintage oldies playing in the other room, lo-fi, video game music, and Studio Ghibli instrumental music.

treating

I’ve been treating myself to some new clothes—I feel like a lot of stuff doesn’t quite fit me at the moment, so I’m trying to embrace it with a little wardrobe refresh!
