anatomy lessons (weekly report)

I’ve been re-watching “Grey’s Anatomy” as kind of a background show for me while I do chores or work, but it’s really hard not to get sucked into the drama and the characters. I think I’m getting to the part where things really start to go off the rails and the original cast is pretty much gone, so I’m wondering at what point it will really become just background noise. “Anatomy Lessons” is also a vague reference to The Goldfinch, which I’ll talk about next—I just thought it was a funny little connection.

reading

I read a little more this week! I started Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch and I know this is gonna take me a while to read, but it is really gorgeous so far. I’m kind of getting Last Samurai vibes from it (another book I adore)—both have a narrator who is a young boy that shares his mother’s fascination with visual arts. I’m speaking super generally about both but either way I’m really looking forward to continuing with The Goldfinch.

On the side, I’ve been reading through the manga series Wotokoi: Love Is Hard For Otaku. I got a box set of the full series over the holidays (a gift to myself 💅) because I love the anime and have been wanting to read more. It has not disappointed so far, it’s just super light-hearted and fun.

eating

Me and my mom tried some special holiday drinks at Helena Avenue Bakery—the “Lovestruck Latte” (white chocolate, raspberry, and espresso) and the “Love You So Matcha” (pink rose milk and matcha)—and they were both so good!

playing

Still playing Black Clover M. I got Yami! But it took me a little bit of extra effort. And $15.

obsessing

For some reason I’ve got it in my head that I want to knit on top of crocheting. So that’s been on my mind. I’ve also been contemplating a new water bottle, I’ve had the same Hydroflask for years (it is a very well-loved gift) and I’m being influenced by all the water bottle stuff I see on TikTok. Currently, I’m considering the Owala FreeSip, it’s very cute.

recommending

I caught an early screening of “Lisa Frankenstein” with some friends and it was super fun! It felt like if “Heathers” was told through a Tim Burton-esque lens. Perfect for lovers of romantic comedy and a bit of dark humor.

treating

I’m getting treated for fancy sushi dinner tonight by my husband, so I’m excited for that!
