I keep track of my reading progress using the Storygraph App, and I thought I’d check in and see how I’m doing so far with my goal this year, which is to read 50 books. I’m definitely reading a lot more than I have in years past, which makes me happy, so I want to keep it up.
According to the app, I’ve read nine books so far:
- Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, Vol. 6 by Fujita
- Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku, Vol. 5 by Fujita
- Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, Vol. 4 by Fujita
- Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku, Vol. 3 by Fujita
- Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku, Vol. 2 by Fujita
- Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, Vol. 1 by Fujita
- One Piece, Vol. 17: Hiriluk’s Cherry Blossoms by Eiichiro Oda
- One Piece, Vol. 16: Carrying on His Will by Eiichiro Oda
- Come & Get It by Kiley Reid
Mostly manga >< This is pretty much how I’ve been reaching reading goals since maybe 2021? Each volume doesn’t take me too long to read. I tend to read a lot of things at once, and while manga is always in my rotation and takes me the shortest amount of time, I’ve made some progress on some full-length novels, including:
- The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
- Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-Reum
- Professional Lola by E.P. Tuazon
- One Piece, Vol. 18: Ace Arrives by Eiichiro Oda
And as a side note, I’ve also DNF’d one book so far this year: Fairy Tale by Stephen King. I did enjoy it when I was reading it, but I had trouble getting myself to open it? I’m not sure what it was, but I do want to try to get back into it when I’m ready.
I also joined a book club recently and they want to read Toni Morrison’s Beloved for the next one. To be honest, I’m not super excited about this read since its subject matter is darker than I’d normally go for, but I just downloaded the audiobook on the Libby app, so I’m gonna try! It’s always good to try something out of your comfort zone, I think.
